2015 All-Conference Teams
Ithaca College placed four student-athletes on the All-Conference teams and earned two of the three major awards as part of the 2015 Empire 8 Field Hockey Awards. The Bombers’ goalkeeper
Katie Lass was named the Player of the Year, while head coach
Tracey Houk and her staff earned the Coaching Staff of the Year award. Washington and Jefferson College’s
Alana Boyd was tabbed the Rookie of the Year.
Lass, a junior from Cherry Hill, NJ, has started all 16 games for Ithaca playing 1118:48 minutes. She has shutout the opposition on seven different occasions, including five conference opponents. Lass allowed four goals in E8 play and only 12 goals all season for an impressive .75 goals against average. She has recorded 75 saves and a .862 save percentage, which ranks her eighth and fourth, respectively, in NCAA Division III. Lass is the second Bomber to win Player of the Year honors, joining 2005 honoree Tasha Snowden
Boyd, a freshman from Alexandria, VA, has played in all 18 games for W&J making 17 starts. She ranks sixth on the team with nine points (4g, 1a). The midfielder has made three defensive saves to help the Presidents to an 11-7 overall record a 5-3 conference mark. W&J is on a seven game win streak, the longest since a 10-straight streak in 2007, heading into the conference tournament. Boyd is the second President to earn Rookie of the Year honors, joining 2010 honoree Alex Kania.
Houk and her staff guided the Bombers to the Empire 8 regular season title with a conference mark of 7-1. This season Ithaca is currently 12-4 overall, which is the most wins since the 2001 season. The Bombers will be making their fifth E8 postseason appearance and have earned the top seed first time. It is also the first time Ithaca has been recognized with the coaching honor.
One member of each team was named that institution’s representative on the 2015 Field Hockey Sportswoman of the Year Team. Empire 8 emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete’s experience in conjunction with an institution’s educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportswomen.
