Senior Emma Dewart of conference champion Ithaca College and first-year runner Lauren DeLude of Utica College were named Field Athlete of the Meet and Track Athlete of the Meet, respectively, at the 2012 Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Ithaca on Saturday.
Dewart set Empire 8 records and qualified for the ECAC Championships in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump. She won the hurdles in 9.03 seconds, captured the high jump with a leap of 1.68 meters, and placed first in the long jump with a mark of 5.70 meters.
DeLude won the 60-meter dash in 7.97 seconds and finished first in the 200 meters in 26.40 seconds. She also finished second to Dewart in the long jump with a leap of 5.45 meters.
