Ithaca Captures ECAC Upstate/Metro Division III Volleyball Championship With Victory Over Elmira in Finals

With a win over Elmira in the tournament final, Ithaca earned the 2009 ECAC Upstate/Metro Women's Volleyball Championship. The Bombers (26-17) defeated the Soaring Eagles (17-12) 17-25, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17. The ECAC title was the fourth in program history, and the third under current head coach Janet Donovan. Nazareth and Stevens Finish Undefeated at First Empire 8 Volleyball Conference Weekend

For the second consecutive year, Nazareth College and Stevens Institute of Technology each posted a 4-0 mark in the opening weekend of Empire 8 volleyball play. The teams finished 1st and 2nd in the regular season last year and met in the championship with Stevens winning both matchups between the teams. This year, Nazareth was the preseason favorite and will host Stevens in the second conference weekend (they meet on Oct. 24). Ithaca College and Rochester Institute of Technology positioned themselves well with 3-1 records.


Nazareth Chosen as Preseason Empire 8 Volleyball Favorite
