Empire 8 Announces Outdoor Track and Field Awards; Track and Field Athletes of the Year All Earned Indoor Honors
Junior Marcia McCord and sophomore Emma Dewart of Ithaca College were named the Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively, as the conference announced the year-end awards for men’s and women’s outdoor track and field. Junior Max Orenstein of Ithaca was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, and sophomore Michael Dempsey of Rochester Institute of Technology was selected as Men’s Field Athlete of the Year. Ithaca Captures 18th Women's Outdoor Track and Field State Championship
The Ithaca College women's track & field team finished the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championships with 274 points, more than 100 points ahead of every other team. Ithaca Sweeps Empire 8 Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship Titles For Third Consecutive Year
Ithaca College won its fourth consecutive men's title and third straight women's title at the 2010 Empire 8 Outdoor Track and Field Championships at RIT. Emma Dewart finished first in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, and long jump to lead the Bombers' women's team to a 287-point total, 173 points ahead of runner-up RIT. Ithaca Chases Sixth Empire 8 Women's Outdoor Track and Field Title
ROCHESTER, NY – Ithaca College is seeking its third consecutive conference title and sixth in the seven-year history of the sport in the conference at the Empire 8 Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship Saturday at Rochester Institute of Technology. Junior Marcia McCord has won four Track Athlete of the Year awards, including the honor in each of her first two outdoor seasons. Marcia McCord of Ithaca Earns Two All-America Honors
Sophomore Marcia McCord earned all-America honors in the 200- and 400-meter dashes Saturday at the final day of the NCAA Championships, hosted by Marietta. McCord placed fifth in the 200, running 24.95. She is Ithaca's second all-American in the event, joining Amy Vanaskie, who did so in 1992. In the 400, McCord placed seventh at 56.55. Also an all-American in the event in 2008, she is the only runner in program history to earn the honor in the event. ...Read
