Empire 8 Announces Indoor Track and Field Awards; Ithaca Sweeps Women's Awards, RIT Takes Two Men's Honors

Junior Marcia McCord and sophomore Emma Dewart of Ithaca College repeated as Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Track Athlete and Field Athlete of the Year, respectively, as the conference announced the year-end awards for men’s and women’s indoor track and field.  Junior Max Orenstein of Ithaca was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Year, and sophomore Michael Dempsey of Rochester Institute of Technology was selected as Men’s Field Athlete of the Year.  Of the four award winners, only McCord earned the top honor at the Empire 8 Women’s Indoor Track and Field Championships as well. ...Read More >>


Emma Dewart of Ithaca Places Second in Nation in Pentathlon, Earns Second All-Ameria Honor at NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships This Year

Sophomore Emma Dewart placed second in the nation in the pentathlon at the NCAA Championships to earn her second All-America honor in two days. Her second-place finish was the best by a Bomber since 2002. Dewart scored 3,494 points, 61 behind the national champion. Ithaca Captures Second ECAC Women's Indoor Track and Field Title

The women's track & field team claimed it second-ever indoor ECAC title, finishing compeition with 64.50 points. The Bombers edged the second-place team by just a half of one point. Ithaca had 10 all-ECAC performances in the two days of the meet. The Bombers also had four NCAA-qualifying performances, including one from junior Kate Leugers who broke her own school record in the mile run. Marcia McCord Leads Ithaca College to New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championship Title

The Bombers won the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Championship Saturday, finishing with 271 points, 92.5 more than any other team. The state title was Ithaca’s second straight. Junior Marcia McCord set new school records in the triple jump and 200-meter dash, winning both events. She was named Track Athlete of the Year. Emma Dewart of Ithaca Wins New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) Pentathlon With Top Score in Division III This Season

Sophomore Emma Dewart broke a 27-year old record with 3,508 points at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference (NYSCTC) pentathlon championships. Dewart scored the most points in the event by any athlete in the nation this season, and won her second straight state title. Ithaca College captured its third consecutive title in both the men's and women's divisions at the Empire 8 Indoor Track and Field Championships at RIT.
