Empire 8 Boys Lacrosse Clinic to Benefit Cancer-Stricken Coach; "Everyone Works for Jack" to be Hosted Across the Country on Jan. 24
January 13, 2010
ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth College will host the Empire 8 Boys Lacrosse Clinic on Sunday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Turin Sports Dome in Fairport, N.Y. Proceeds from the clinic, which is for boys ages 10-17, will benefit Bellarmine University Head Coach Jack McGetrick and his family.
McGetrick was diagnosed with prostate cancer just over a year ago and it has now spread to his bones. The Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) recently established an emergency fund to help with medical expenses and as part of the fundraising initiative, college coaches around the country will host clinics on the same day.
“All of the lacrosse coaches in the Empire 8 are very excited to run this clinic for a great cause,’ said Nazareth Head Coach Rob Randall. “Jack McGetrick is a personal friend who I have known for many years. He is a great person and the college coaches are pitching in to assist him and his family with these clinics across the country.”
Several Empire 8 head coaches will be in attendance with commitments already secured from Randall, Bill Bjorness of Hartwick College, Jeff Long of Ithaca College, Jake Coon of Rochester Institute of Technology, and John Johnson of St. John Fisher College.
To register, please contact the Nazareth lacrosse office at (585) 389-2194 or 389-2809. Enrollment will be limited so registration by phone is required.
