Ithaca Chases Seventh Empire 8 Women's Cross Country Title

ROCHESTER, NY – Ithaca College will defend its women’s cross country conference championship at the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships held in conjunction with the Saratoga Invitational at Saratoga Springs on Saturday. The Bombers have won each of the first six conference championships in women’s cross country.
The Bombers are ranked 23rd in the latest U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division III national poll and third in the Atlantic Region poll. First-year runner Jenn Randall has been named Empire 8 Runner of the Week after each of her first six collegiate races and earned all-state honors with her fourth-place finish at the New York State Collegiate Track Conference championships.
Senior Amanda Bocchio of the Bombers earned second-team all-state honors, while sophomore teammate Heidi Baumbach, a first-team all-conference runner last year and Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, garnered third-team all-state recognition.
Junior Arielle Januszkiewicz of Rochester Institute of Technology ran to second-team all-conference honors in last year’s championship. First-year runners Rachel Zoyhofski and Anna Guthrie, and junior Gabrielle Oberti have been the Tigers’ top finishers in their last three races.
First-year runner Ashley Princiotta and junior Shanna Bearisto of Stevens Institute of Technology have each been named Empire 8 Runner of the Week this season. Senior Caitlyn Parmalee of Nazareth College earned second-team all-conference honors in last year’s championship. Senior Shannon Bradley was the top Golden Flyers’ top finisher in the New York State meet.
Sophomore Elisabeth Phillips-Jones was the top Alfred University runner at the state championship. Senior captain Gabby Dello was the top Hartwick College finisher at the NYSCTC championship. Sophomore Susan Torchia paced Utica College in its most recent race.
