Ithaca Top-Seeded For This Weekend's Empire 8 Men's Tennis Championship

Top-seeded Ithaca (8-0 conference, 15-4 overall) will meet fourth-seeded Hartwick (5-3, 7-7) in one semifinal on Saturday in the Empire 8 Men’s Tennis Championship hosted by St. John Fisher and to be played at 10 a.m. at RIT.  Second-seeded defending champion Stevens (7-1, 13-4) will play third-seeded RIT (6-2, 9-3) in the other semifinal, also at 10 a.m. at RIT. 

The winners will meet on Sunday at 10 a.m. at RIT for the conference title and automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Men’s Tennis Championship. If case of rain/inclement weather, the semifinals will be played at noon on Saturday at Mendon Racquet Club with the championship final at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Ithaca has won four Empire 8 men's tennis titles, including back-to-back championships in 2006 and 2007. The Bombers won 9-0 at Hartwick on April 14 in the teams' regular season meeting. Stevens defeated RIT 9-0 at home on March 29. The Ducks egded Ithaca 5-4 in an exciting final in last year's championship.
