Nationally Ranked Ithaca Seeks Sixth Empire 8 Women's Cross Country Title

ROCHESTER, NY – Ithaca College will defend its women’s cross country conference championship at the Empire 8 Cross Country Championships held in conjunction with the Saratoga Invitational at Saratoga Springs on Saturday. The Bombers have won each of the first five Empire 8 championships in women’s cross country.
The 20th-ranked Bombers return senior Lindsey Nadolski, who has earned first-team all-conference honors in each of her first three years and was named the first Empire 8 Runner of the Year last season. She was selected the conference Runner of the Week five consecutive times this season and ran a personal-best time of 17:38 at the Hamilton Invitational.
Junior Melanie McCormick and senior Kasey Currier finished second and third, respectively, behind Nadolski in last year’s Empire 8 meet. Sophomore Alissa Kersey was chosen as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Meet and Rookie of the Year in 2007.
Junior Megan Crimmins was the top Alfred University runner at the University of Rochester Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday. Arielle Januskiewicz was the top Rochester Institute of Technology finisher at this past weekend’s primarily Division I Albany Invitational.
Junior Shannon Bradley led Nazareth College to the team title at its own eight-team invitational with a fourth-place finish in the four-kilometer race. Abby Crain of the Golden Flyers was the first conference Runner of the Week this season.
Senior Sara Amitrani and junior Melissa Franzese of Stevens Institute of Technology each earned second-team all-conference honors in last year’s championship. Franzese was named the most recent Empire 8 Runner of the Week.
Erica Cline of Utica earned conference Runner of the Week accolades earlier this season. Kim Negrich and Gabby Dello were the top Hartwick finishers this past Saturday at the Williams College Planski Invitational.
