Ithaca to host Empire 8 Softball Championship

Top-seeded Ithaca College will host the Empire 8 Softball Championship this weekend seeking its seventh consecutive conference championship.
Play in the double-elimination tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Friday with second-seeded Alfred University (21-9 overall, 8-4 conference) facing third-seeded St. John Fisher (20-18, 8-4). The Bombers (28-8, 12-0) open their tournament play at noon against fourth-seeded Nazareth College (18-18, 7-5).
The first elimination game will be at 2 p.m. with the winners of the first-round games to meet at 4 p.m. Play continues on Saturday with an elimination game at 11 a.m. and the championship game(s) to be at 1 p.m. and again at 3 p.m. if necessary.
