Empire 8 Announces 2008 Women's Basketball All-Conference Team

ROCHESTER, NY – Junior guard Dani Dudek of Stevens Institute of Technology was named the Empire 8 Women’s Basketball Player of the Year, highlighting the all-conference team announcement. Jessica Berry of conference champion Utica College earned Rookie of the Year accolades. Jon Hochberg was selected as Coach of the Year for leading Stevens to a 15-1 conference regular season record in the Ducks’ first season in the Empire 8.
Dudek is the NCAA Division III leader with 7.5 assists per game. She enters ECAC play averaging 12 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.4 steals per game. Dudek has recorded five triple-doubles this season, including one in the semifinals of the conference tournament. She is shooting 41.1 percent from the field and 78 percent from the free throw line and has led the Ducks to 21 wins and the third seed in the ECAC Metro Championship.
Senior forward Dora Enright joined her teammate Dudek on the all-conference first team. She leads the team in scoring and rebounding, averaging 15.8 points and 9.0 rebounds per game.
Utica sophomore forward Jessica Berry, playing in her first collegiate season due to an injury last year, was named Empire 8 Rookie of the Year and was named to the all-conference first team. She leads the NCAA-bound Pioneers in scoring and rebounding with per game averages of 17.2 points and 9.2 rebounds while shooting 55.5 percent from the field and 81.9 percent from the line.
Sophomore guard Katherine Bixby of Ithaca College garnered first-team all-conference recognition. Bixby paced the Bombers in scoring (13.7 points per game), assists (4.3 per game), and steals (1.9 per game). She also led the team with a 80.9 free throw percentage and 51 three-pointers.
Senior Allison Boehm of St. John Fisher College, an honorable mention honoree last season, received first-team all-conference recognition this year. She enters ECAC play leading the team in numerous categories, averaging 18.6 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 3.5 assists per game. Boehm, who scored a career-high 33 points in the conference tournament semifinals, also leads the Cardinals with 52 three-pointers and 45 steals.
