UTICA, NY – Utica College men’s basketball Head Coach Andrew Goodemote resigned Monday after spending the last ten seasons at the helm of the Pioneers’ men’s basketball program.

In ten seasons Goodemote compiled a 137-119 overall record, which included a program-best 23-7 record and a trip to the NCAA “Sweet 16” in his 2005-06 campaign. That season he was named Empire 8 Conference Co-Coach of the Year, the NABC Division III - East Region Coach of the Year and the D3Hoops.com East Region Coach of the Year. The team finished the 2005-06 season ranked No. 33 in the D3hoops.com national poll.

“Andy Goodemote is a special coach, the kind that only comes around once in a while. We respect his decision to concentrate on his family life and his contributions to the Utica College basketball program will not soon be forgotten,” says Director of Athletics Jim Spartano.

Goodemote's teams were awarded the Schoenfield Award by the Collegiate Basketball Officials Association (CBOA) in 2004 and 2006. The Schoenfeld Award is an annual award given to a college or university which the CBOA identifies as having "the highest degree of sportsmanship, character, and ethics among their players, coaches and spectators." The award is the highest honor that the CBOA annually bestows on any collegiate institution.

This past season the Pioneers finished with a 16-9 overall record and 10-6 in conference play, just missing out on the conference tournament by one game. UC won eight of its last ten games, while knocking off the top four teams in the conference.
