ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT Student Athlete Advisory Committee raised $5,000 for Camp Good Days and Special Times by sponsoring the second annual sports formal on Saturday, December 15 for RIT athletes, support staff and guests.

Over 400 people and 300 RIT student athletes attended the gala event, held at the Student Alumni Union.

Tickets to the event sold for $15 per person and $25 per couple. SAAC also sold raffle tickets for several great prizes donated by local businesses. In addition, student-athletes could donate money and select an administrator to pie in the face during halftime of the men's basketball game against St. John Fisher on Tuesday, February 12.

Students chose Head Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Coach Dave Warth to be pied. First-year track and field athlete Jon Grossman will be the lucky student chosen to do the honor.

Christine Worsley, the Director of Athletic Training and SAAC administrator said that the goal of the group was to exceed last year's goal, which was $4,500, given to Livestrong - the Lance Armstrong Cancer Foundation.

"We had a bigger turnout this year and the SAAC Committee did an excellent job putting the event together," said Worsley.  "It was in the spirit of the Tigers Give Back program, giving back to the community."

Members of SAAC were pleased with the student-athlete participation.

"The event was a great success," said Amanda Morehouse, fourth-year softball pitcher and SAAC Vice President.  "We raised more than last year and hopefully the amount of money raised increases every year."

The RIT men's lacrosse team had 100 percent of its squad attend the event.

"It was fun," said second-year women's soccer defender Stephanie Servetas.  "I like seeing everyone all dressed up instead of in uniforms."

On February 9, there will be an additional raffle for an autographed football signed by a Buffalo Bills player.
