Jamara Coghlan Named Washington & Jefferson Field Hockey Coach August 7, 2007
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Washington & Jefferson College Director of Athletics Bill Dukett announced the hiring of Jomara Coghlan as the Presidents’ head field hockey coach on Tuesday afternoon. Coghlan will begin her duties at the college on August 13th. Coghlan was the assistant field hockey and women’s lacrosse coach at the College of Wooster from 2004-2006. Coghlan’s duties with the field hockey program focused primarily on the goalkeepers and the defense. She helped 20 players earn All-North Coast Athletic Conference honors, including six players who went on to garner All-Region status. Coghlan also helped three Fighting Scots become All-Americans. In addition to her coaching duties, Coghlan assisted the Wooster athletics department with NCAA compliance guidelines. “Jomara is a great addition to our staff at W&J,” said Dukett. “We believe Jomara is the right person to continue our recent field hockey success in the classroom and on the playing field within the Empire 8 Conference.” Coghlan also has one year of coaching experience as a volunteer goalkeeper assistant at Kent State. As a collegiate player, Coghlan was a three-year field hockey letterwinner as a goalkeeper at Division I Ohio University. She received a bachelor’s degree in sports sciences from OU in 1993. Most recently, Coghlan worked as a sales merchandise manager from The Scotts Company in Cleveland, Ohio. She was responsible for sales and marketing of all Scotts’ company products. Coghlan has worked the Connecticut Elite Field Hockey Camp and the Extreme Field Hockey Camp in Long Island. She was also a USFHA Futures Program Coach in 1996 and 2004. |
