ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT's Geoff Dornes (Landsville, PA/Hempfield) recently added another honor when he was named the 2007 Rochester Area College Athletics Baseball Player of the Year.

Earlier this month, Dornes became the first player in the Empire 8 conference's history to sweep Player and Rookie of the Year accolades in the same season. He is the first Tiger to earn Player of the Year honors and second to be named the Rookie of the Year. Dornes, who played mainly right field, finished the season hitting .452 and his 57 hits were one shy of the school single-season record. He totaled 35 hits, 10 extra-base hits, 22 runs batted in, and a .563 slugging percentage. He was also a All-Empire 8 first team selection.

RIT finished the 2007 season with a 24-12 record. The 24 wins tied the school record for wins in a season.
