Borda capped the final week of the regular season in his college career with four more victories as Ithaca defeated St. John Fisher and Elmira. He won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles against the Soaring Eagles, and 6-1, 6-2 against the Cardinals. Borda teamed with Josh Rifkin in post 8-1 and 8-0 doubles wins. Borda is the all-time winningest player in school history in singles, doubles, and overall matches.
Second-seeded Stevens will host the Empire 8 Men's Tennis Championship semifinals on Saturday and title match on Sunday at Mercer County Park. Top-seeded defending champion Ithaca will play fourth-seeded RIT in one semifinal with Stevens facing third-seeded Nazareth in the other semifinal. Both matches will start at 1 p.m. if played outdoors and 1:30 p.m. if moved indoors. The semifinal winners will meet for the conference championship and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Tennis Championship Sunday at 1 p.m. … Ithaca honored seniors Taylor Borda, Danny Wolk, and Andrew Kalicki prior to Saturday’s home match and all contributed in the 9-0 win over Elmira. Kalicki appeared in his first varsity match and was an 8-2 winner at third doubles. Wolk moved up to third singles and won 6-1, 6-0, and was an 8-2 winner at second doubles.
