Agro was named Swimmer of the Meet at the 2008 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship held in conjunction with the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championship.  He won three Empire 8 and one state championship in leading the Saxons to their second consecutive conference and state titles.  He won the Empire 8 and state title in the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.68 seconds, which provisionally qualified him for the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships.  Agro captured conference titles in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:55.92 and the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:11.59.

Quinn Donahoe, Rochester Institute of Technology
Sr., Syracuse, NY/West Genesee HS

Donahoe was named Diver of the Meet at the 2008 Empire 8 Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship held in conjunction with the Upper New York State Collegiate Swimming Association Championship.  He won his second consecutive Empire 8 and UNYSCSA title in the one-meter diving event and finished second in the three-meter dive.  Donahoe captured the one-meter board with a score of 453.25 and placed second to teammate Matt Joseph on the three-meter board with a score of 475.20.


Empire 8 Men's Swimming and Diving team notes...

Seniors Matt Joseph and Quinn Donahoe of RIT each earned dual All-American honors at the NCAA Division III Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by the College of Wooster.  Joseph finished fifth in the one-meter championship with a score of 450 points and he closed out his career with a fourth-place finish in the three-meter event with a score of 470.05.  He earned three All-American honors in his career.  Donahoe earned his fifth and sixth All-American honors in his fourth NCAA appearance, finishing seventh in the one-meter dive with 425.65 points and placed 10th for honorable mention status on the three-meter board with a score of 425.65.  The Tigers finished 21st in the championship with only Joseph and Donahoe competing… Junior Matt Baker of Empire 8 champion Alfred earned honorable mention All-American honors with his ninth-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 51.14 seconds.  It marks his second consecutive All-American honor in the event.  He finished 18th in the 200-yard backstroke… Freshman Evan Wilson of Stevens earned honorable mention All-American accolades in the 400-yard individual medley in a time of 4:05.30.  He also placed 21st in the 1,650-yard freestyle and 23rd in the 500-yard freestyle.
