James Aucoin, Ithaca College
Sr., East Haddan, CT/Nathan Hale Ray HS

Aucoin won the long jump (7.01 meters) at the NYSCTC Championships by nearly a foot, besting his closest competitor by 11 inches.  The mark is a personal best and a NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship provisional qualifying distance.  Aucoin also placed eighth in the triple jump (12.83 meters).


Co-Athlete of the Week
Mike Hardbarger, Rochester Institute of Technology
Jr., Parkersburg, WV/Ritchie County HS

Hardbarger broke a 25-year-old RIT record in the 1,500 meters, winning by over six seconds and provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Division III Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship at the NYSCTC Championships in 3:50.29.  He was a member of the school record-breaking 800-meter relay team that placed second in 7:45.92 and finished third in the 800 meters in 1:54.51.

Ithaca finished fourth at the NYSCTC Championships, its highest finish since 2004.  Kyle Devins won the triple jump with a NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 14.12 meters and junior Cory Petermann captured the javelin with a throw of 58.19 meters.  The Bombers’ 400-meter relay team placed second in the meet with an ECAC-qualifying time of 42.51 seconds… RIT finished third of 14 teams at the NYSCTC Championships.
