Bobzien matched a career-high with four goals and added two assists as Ithaca defeated RIT 12-9 in the Empire 8 championship game. He also recorded four points in the Bombers’ 17-9 semifinal victory over St. John Fisher. Bobzien leads the team with 40 assists and 71 points this season.
Connery was named the Most Valuable Player of the Empire 8 championship after making a career-high 26 saves in the 12-9 Ithaca win over RIT in the title game.
Ithaca (15-2) will host Williams Saturday in a second-round game in the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse Championship. The winner of that game advances to play a national quarterfinal game on Wednesday, May 14 at a site to be determined… RIT earned the second seed in the ECAC Upstate Championship and will host third-seeded St. John Fisher in Thursday’s semifinals. Top-seeded Union will host fourth-seeded Nazareth the same day, also at 4 p.m. The championship game will be played Sunday at noon at the highest remaining seed… Freshman attack Marc Zoyhofski scored eight goals and added an assist in Alfred wins over Medaille and Morrisville. The Saxons finished the season with a 7-7 record, the first time they have finished .500 or better since 2002 (8-5).
