Rochester Institute of Technology, seeded second in the conference, won its first Empire 8 Men's Lacrosse Championship title since 2006 with a 9-6 win against visiting Ithaca College. Robert Tonnessen stopped 10 shots in goal for the Tigers, while Chris Cherami tallied twice and added an assist. MacRae recorded five caused turnovers and five ground balls, while also scoring once in the final. Nazareth College, which captured the conference championship last year as the fourth seed in the tournament, is the favorite to capture the Empire 8 Men’s Lacrosse Championship again this season, according to the preseason coaches’ poll.  The Golden Flyers received seven first-place votes.
