Player of the Week (Nov. 11)
Jack Phelan, Hartwick College
Jr., WR, Slingerlands, NY/Guilderland HS
Phelan tied a career-high with 11 receptions and set a career-high with 240 yards receiving as Hartwick defeated Utica 72-70 in four overtimes to capture a share of the Empire 8 title and the automatic bid to its first NCAA Division III Football Championship. His four touchdowns, including two 25-yarders in the overtime periods, tied a school single-season record of 22, the fourth-highest single-season total in NCAA Division III history.

Chris Sharpe, Springfield College
Sr., QB, Derry, NH/Pinkerton Academy
Sharpe ended his career with 276 yards rushing and a career-high 166 yards passing in a 54-42 Springfield win over Norwich. His 442 yards of total offense broke his own school single-game record of 375 set against Union in 2006. Sharpe, who rushed for three touchdowns and threw for two more, became the first player in the program’s history to rush for more than 4,000 yards (4,152). His 5,723 total yards and 432 points are also Springfield career records.

Ryan Terlecki, Ithaca College
Sr., SS, Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury HS
Terlecki forced two turnovers inside the Ithaca five-yard line on consecutive Cortland possessions to set up 90+ yard touchdown drives in a 40-17 Ithaca win in the annual Cortaca Jug Game. He intercepted a pass on his own two-yard line and forced a fumble on first-and-goal from the one-yard line. Terlecki raised his career total to 229 tackles, 16th on the program’s all-time list.

Dan Pollock, St. John Fisher College
Jr., DL, Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley HS
Pollock recorded three tackles for loss, including two sacks and the first St. John Fisher safety of the season as the Cardinals defeated Alfred 39-18 to gain a share of the Empire 8 title. The first-team District I ESPN The Magazine All-Academic selection, Pollock made six stops with his two sacks accounting for 14 yards in loss. He leads the conference in sacks, and ranks third in tackles for loss.

8 Football team notes... (Nov. 25)
St. John Fisher has reached the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Football Championship after defeating Curry 38-7. James Reile rushed 13 times for 104 yards, including a career-long 69-yard touchdown run, and Ryan Hanson added 83 yards on 16 carries. Tim Marion led the Cardinals with 148 all-purpose yards (66 receiving yards, 46 punt return yards, and 36 rushing yards). He ran 36 yards for one touchdown and caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Rob Kramer. Sean Trapper paced the defense with a career-high three sacks and Josh Gottlieb finished with nine tackles. The Cardinals travel to play Saturday at top-seeded Mount Union, which has won nine of the past 14 national titles and eliminated St. John Fisher in last year’s national semifinals.
