Player of the Week (Mar. 3)
Ryan McAdam, Nazareth College

McAdam was named Most Valuable Player for leading Nazareth to the Empire 8 Men’s Basketball Championship title.  He posted back-to-back double-doubles and hit 11 of 16 field goals.  McAdam totaled 18 points (7-of-9 shooting) and 10 rebounds in a 64-63 Golden Flyers’ championship game victory over St. John Fisher.  He finished with 13 points and 10 boards in an 81-70 semifinal win over Stevens.


Empire 8 Men's Basketball team notes...

Ryan McAdam scored 20 points and Nazareth all-time leading scorer Joe Canori added 17 as the Golden Flyers fell 77-73 to Rhode Island College in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship.  Canori finished his career with 1,921 points… Stevens captured the ECAC Metro Championship with an 82-54 title game win over York on Sunday.  Tournament Most Valuable Player Virgil Gray finished with 18 points and five rebounds in the title game and scored a game-high 26 points with eight boards to lead the Ducks to an 83-74 win over Brooklyn in the semifinals.  Senior guard Waleed Farid finished with 14 points and 14 boards in a 73-47 Ducks’ rout of Staten Island in the quarterfinals.  Farid completed his career as the school’s all-time leader in rebounds with 711, breaking the mark of 708, which stood for more than 20 years… Seven St. John Fisher players scored between six and 12 points to lead the Cardinals to a 68-65 win over Vassar in the ECAC Upstate Championship quarterfinals.  St. John Fisher came back from a 21-point deficit to take a late lead on top-seeded Brockport before falling 81-80 in the semifinals.
