Empire 8 Men's Basketball Player of the Year Corey McAdam was named a finalist for the prestigious Jostens Trophy. St. John Fisher to Host NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Weekend

Empire 8 Player of the Year Corey McAdam scored 22 of his 26 points in the second half, including two free throws with seven seconds remaining, as third-seeded Nazareth College defeated top-seeded host St. John Fisher College 65-64 in the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Championship final. St. John Fisher College, which won 15 of 16 conference games, will host the Empire 8 Men's Basketball Championship on Friday and Saturday. The top-seeded Cardinals play fourth-seeded Stevens in Friday's first semifinal at 6 p.m. The teams split road wins during the season with the Ducks handing the Cardinals their only conference loss. Second-seded Ithaca College faces third-seeded Nazareth College in the second semifinal at 8 p.m. on Friday. The teams split home wins during the regular season. The semifinal winners will meet at 5 p.m. on Saturday to determine the conference champion and automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Championship.


Mark Blazek of Hartwick Earns First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Honors

Sophomore guard Mark Blazek of the Hartwick College men's basketball team has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District I First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Blazek is one of only five men's basketball players who were selected to the first team in the College Division, which is comprised of NCAA Division II and III and NAIA programs in New England, New York and Canada.
