Wing hit .516 (16-for-31) with 10 runs scored, two doubles, a triple, and six runs batted in as St. John Fisher posted a 5-3 record at the Russ Matt Invitational in Vero Beach, Fla. He recorded a career-high five hits against Thiel, reaching base in all seven plate appearances and finishing a home run shy of hitting for the cycle. Wing drove in the game-winner in the final game of the trip, a 5-4 Cardinals’ victory over Neumann. Wing leads the team in batting average, hits, runs, total bases, and slugging percentage.

Dornes hit .455 (10-for-22) with 10 runs batted in and became the RIT all-time leader in hits as the Tigers opened the season 2-5 in Arizona. He went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and three RBI in a win over College of New Jersey, a game in which he also earned his first collegiate save. Dornes ended the week going 2-for-3 with a stolen base and three RBI against Rockford. He finished the week with a .522 on-base percentage, .727 slugging percentage, and raised his career total to 167 hits, bettering the previous school record of 160.

Jurik became the all-time leader in wins at St. John Fisher, earning his 17th victory in a 10-3 Cardinals’ victory over Beloit. In that game, he tossed a complete-game five-hitter, yielding two earned runs, and striking out 10. Jurik gave up one earned run and fanned seven in five innings in a 20-7 win over Thiel.

Senior catcher Chris Brol went 4-for-4 with three runs scored against Rockford on Saturday, giving him more hits in one game than he had in his first three seasons at RIT. Charles Harrington earned his first collegiate win on the mound against St. John’s… St. John Fisher Interim Head Coach Brandon Potter won his first game when the Cardinals topped Thiel 20-7… Junior outfielder Russ Grimes finished 6-for-19 with seven runs scored, seven RBI, and a .579 slugging percentage as Stevens began the season splitting six games. He finished 3-for-3 with two doubles, a home run, four runs scored, and five RBI in the Ducks’ 19-2 victory over St. Joseph’s (LI). Senior pitcher Joe Finora threw a seven-inning one-hitter with one walk and nine strikeouts in that game, splitting two decisions to open the season.
