Dan Pepicelli, St. John Fisher College baseball’s winningest head coach, will resign, effective Friday, October 2nd. Ithaca Hurler Pete MacDaniel Named All-American

Senior right-handed pitcher Pete MacDaniel was named a second-team all-American by D3baseball.com Wednesday. He was the only Empire 8 player honored and one of four players from the New York Region to be named to the team. MacDaniel is the program’s 25th all-American. MacDaniel compiled an 8-1 record on the season, and did not lose a game until the NCAA playoffs. His ERA was 2.76 and he struck out 52 batters. ...Read More >>


Denis Ackermann Earns ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award

Sophomore catcher Denis Ackermann of the Stevens Institute of Technology baseball team earned the American Baseball Coach’s Association/Rawlings Gold Glove Award as a catcher for the 2009 season. Stevens finished 21-20 on the year and received its first-ever appearance into the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Metro Division Championship as the Ducks fell in the Finals to Ramapo College. St. John Fisher Baseball Downs Brockport to Grab ECAC Championship

The St. John Fisher College baseball team came away with a win in the finals of the ECAC Upstate Chasmpionship, as the No. 2 Cardinals defeated No. 3 seed College at Brockport 12-3 at SUNY Fredonia.
Tournament MVP Phil Pettinella went 3-for-5, as did third baseman Teagen Barresi. Kevin Wing, Steve Karnyski, Matt Klock, and Jared Tiffin each picked up two of Fisher’s 16 hits. Geoff Martone allowed just one hit in 2.2 innings of relief action en route to the win. ... Read More >>
