Ithaca College has one of Division III's strongest overall athletic programs. Ithaca finished 14th in the Directors' Cup standings in 2007-08. The Bombers have won a total of 15 national titles in seven team sports (only one Division III school has won titles in more sports) and five individual sports. Ithaca has ranked in the top 30 of the Directors' Cup standings every year since the program's inception and is one of only nine schools to rank that high each year.

Ithaca teams have won three national championships in football and wrestling, two each in baseball, women's crew and women's soccer, and one each in field hockey, gymnastics and softball. Bomber teams have also produced individual national champions in gymnastics, men's and women's swimming, wrestling, and track and field. Ithaca is sponsoring 25 varsity sports during the 2007-08 school year - 13 for women and 12 for men - and will add women's golf for the 2008-09 season.

Ithaca is a member of the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), National Collegiate Gymnastics Association (NCGA) and the Empire 8. A year ago, Bomber teams were a combined 260-129-1 (.668); 13 were represented in NCAA playoffs and 11 won Empire 8 championships. Ithaca won the Empire 8 Commissioner's Cup for the eighth year in a row.

A total of 23 Ithaca student-athletes earned all-American recognition and one was named academic all-American.
