Jim Spartano, Utica College Athletic Director, was
unanimously selected as the Empire 8 Second Vice President.
Spartano has guided Utica coaches and student-athletes for the past 34 years. He
began his career coaching both baseball and basketball at the school after earning his
bachelors degree at Oneonta State, where he is a member of the Oneonta Athletics Hall
of Fame.
Spartano received both his graduate and masters degree in athletic administration from
Syracuse University. The 2005-06 academic year was the most successful season of athletic
competition in the school's history under his leadership. The field hockey team earned its
first NCAA Division III post-season berth and the men's basketball team advanced to the
Sweet 16 of the national tournament.
